Her Trees is a single-player game with no accounts and no sign-in. This page explains the little that is collected anyway, who collects it, and how to stop it.
What this covers
This policy covers the game “Her Trees: A Forgotten House” (com.hertrees.game) on the App Store and Google Play, and this website.
Both are published by VTCODE. Questions go to info@hertreespuzzles.com.
What we never collect
There is no account, no sign-in and no profile. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth or payment details, and there is nowhere in the game to type them.
The game does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, photos, or precise (GPS) location.
What stays on your device
Your progress — the chapter you reached, what is in your satchel, the hints you have left, your language and sound settings — is written to your own device’s storage. It is never uploaded to us, we cannot read it, and it does not follow you to another phone. Deleting the app deletes it.
Analytics
The game uses Google Firebase Analytics to answer one question: which chapter do players stop at. It records an event when a chapter is entered and when it is solved, together with the standard information Firebase attaches to them:
- a randomly generated app instance identifier — not your name, and reset if you reinstall
- device model, operating system version, and app version
- language, and an approximate country derived from your IP address
These events are not tied to your identity, and we make no attempt to link them to a person. Google’s handling of them is described in Google’s Privacy Policy and the Firebase privacy documentation.
Advertising
The game is free and carries advertising from Google AdMob. It appears in two places and nowhere else — and nothing is shown when the app opens.
- On the way into a new chapter. The first five chapters carry no advertising at all; from the sixth onwards, one full-screen ad plays as each new chapter opens. It cannot be skipped — but it can never keep a chapter shut either. If the ad is missing, slow or broken, the game moves on without it.
- In exchange for a hint. You may choose to watch a video and be given a hint for it, up to twice in one run. This one is always your choice, offered beside the hints you already hold.
The game asks Google for non-personalised ads only, so what you are shown is not chosen from a profile of you. Google still processes what it needs in order to deliver and count an ad: your device’s advertising identifier (the Advertising ID on Android, the IDFA on iOS where you have allowed it), your IP address, and general device and ad-interaction data.
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads lets you delete the advertising ID or turn off personalised ads.
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking controls whether apps may ask to track you.
What Google does with this data is set out in “How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services”.
Purchases
The game sells packs of coins, and coins buy hints. The payment itself is handled entirely by the App Store or Google Play: they take the money, and all the game is told is that a named pack was paid for, so that the coins can be given to you. We never see your card, your billing address or your store account.
Coins are spent once and kept in the save on your own device, like the rest of your progress — deleting the app deletes them, and they do not follow you to another phone.
A refund is handled by the store you bought from rather than by us: Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com, Google through Google Play. If a purchase went wrong, write to info@hertreespuzzles.com and we will help you work out which of the two to ask.
This website
Reading the site collects nothing beyond the request logs Firebase Hosting keeps in order to serve pages and defend against abuse, which include IP address and browser type.
The community area needs a Google account. Signing in gives us your Google display name, your profile picture and the account identifier Google issues for this site — nothing else, and never your password. Your name is shown on every thread and reply you write.
What you post — the title and the message — is stored and shown publicly, so do not put anything in a post you would not want a stranger to read. Write to info@hertreespuzzles.com to have a post removed, or your account and everything you wrote deleted.
Posts and accounts are held by Google Cloud Firestore, which is part of the same Firebase project as everything else named here.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the community area, write to info@hertreespuzzles.com and it will be deleted.
Who else sees any of this
Only the services named above: Google, for Firebase Analytics, AdMob, Firebase Hosting, Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Those services operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.
How long it is kept
- Progress on your device: until you delete the app.
- Analytics events: on Google’s retention schedule for Firebase, currently up to 14 months.
- Advertising data: on Google’s own schedule, described in its policy.
- Community posts: until you or we remove them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to its processing. In practice: deleting the app removes everything held on your device, resetting your advertising identifier severs the advertising profile, and a message to info@hertreespuzzles.com takes a community post down. For anything else, write to us and we will answer.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the current version always lives at this address.
